Hygenic use of Sex Toys When sharing sex toys with someone or using your sex toys both vaginally and anally you should clean between each use. STD's can easily be transmitted using the sex toys from person to person. Also, bacteria can grow causing infections in the vagina and penis. Using condoms on your sex toys can quickly be changed and are a great tool in keeping your toys clean.
Using Lubricants Water based lubricants are a must when using most sex toys. This helps to preserve the material and makes the experience a lot smoother. A silicone lubricant should never be used with silicone sex toys. It also must not be used on realistic materials (See Below). Don’t be conservative with the lubricant - the more the better. Keep a cup of warm water within reach as sometimes the water in the lubricant can evaporate but the actual lube is still there – this means just add water. Putting the lube in warm water for a few minutes before use will take away the initial shock of a cold lubricant.
Silicone Sex Toys Silicone is a very durable material. It is hypoallergenic and non-porous meaning you can wash it at high temperatures using soap and water. You can boil it for 2-3 minutes, place in top rack of dishwasher, or clean with a 10% bleach solution. You should be careful of any plastic parts it might contain which can be damaged at high temperatures. Do not use silicone lube with a silicone toy.
